About Albert Massimi
Albert showed an early interest in art and painted as a hobby through his teenage years. He was accepted as an art major at the State University College at Buffalo on a tuition-free scholarship. As an undergraduate, he studied for a semester at the University of Siena, Italy. After graduating with a degree in Liberal Arts, Albert joined the Peace Corps and served for two years in Buyo, Korea. While teaching there he studied brush and ink painting with a Korean master artist. Upon returning to the States, Albert continued to teach various subjects in the Yonkers and NYC public school systems and was an instructor at Manhattan College. He completed a Master's Degree at Columbia University and then began painting botanical subjects. Albert is a member of the Brooklyn Watercolor Society and has taught watercolor and drawing classes at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, the Horticultural Society of New York, the National Council of Jewish Women and at several UFT retirement centers. His work has been exhibited at various venues in the metropolitan area and can be found in many private and public collections. Albert prefers painting with the watercolor medium for its transparency, brilliancy and serendipitous effects. Besides watercolor, Albert also dabbles in graphite drawing, photography, writes poetry and tends his garden.
